A Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Florida Network Realty postcard inspires a unique donation that will provide dreams to children with life-threatening illnesses
Billie Woods is making dreams come true. The Jacksonville resident has donated a beautiful homesite, located in Jacksonville Ranch Club and appraised at $28,000, to Dreams Come True of Jacksonville.
“I like helping others and I am happy to donate my homesite to Dreams Come True,” said Woods. “I am impressed with the work they do and I believe this is the beginning of a wonderful relationship. I hope others will join me in supporting Dreams Come True.”
The homesite donated by Woods is for sale and proceeds will provide funds for Dreams Come True to present dreams to children with life-threatening illnesses. To maximize the power of the donation, Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Florida Network Realty and its partners, Gibraltar Title Services, LLC, and Prosperity Home Mortgage, waived the real estate fees associated with the transfer including appraisal and title transfer. Realtor and listing agent Liz Bobeck also generously waived her commission.
“Billie is a remarkable woman and we are grateful for her tremendous generosity,” said Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Florida Network RealtyPresident and CEO Christy Budnick. “For Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices and our partners, Gibraltar Title Services, LLC, and Prosperity Home Mortgage, it’s an honor to support and contribute to this meaningful donation. I appreciate our entire team for making this possible and for the kind heart of one person who decided to make a difference!”
The 2.34-acre homesite in Jacksonville Ranch Club is listed below appraisal at $20,000 and available for building a custom home. Located on the south side of Plummer Road in northwest Jacksonville, the heavily treed, equestrian-friendly community offers country-style living and allows one horse per acre. In addition to an equestrian area with a community pavilion, Jacksonville Ranch Club amenities include lakes and ponds, a playground with a pavilion, dock and cooking grills, and RV storage.
Woods is a previous Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Florida Network Realty client who met Realtor Liz Bobeck of the Avondale/Ortega office when she purchased the Jacksonville Ranch Club homesite more than 10 years ago. Woods had originally planned to build a home, but recently decided she would rather donate the property to a good cause. At the same time, Woods received a promotional postcard highlighting Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Florida Network Reality’s relationship with Dreams Come True.
“Billie called me and said, ‘I would like to do something good with the lot I purchased from you – I received your postcard and I’d like to donate it to Dreams Come True,’” Bobeck said. “Then our entire family of services got involved to make this donation even stronger. It’s an amazing and generous gift, and we are all excited to be a part of it.”
This is the first time Dream Come True has received a gift of property donated for resale. Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Florida Network Realty has a long-standing partnership with the nonprofit. For more than five years, the real estate company has donated more than $200,000 to Dreams Come True by contributing a portion of proceeds from every completed home sale. Additionally, team members have volunteered, fundraised and supported numerous Dreams Come True events.
“We are truly grateful for Billie’s kindness and for the wonderful partnership that we have with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Florida Network Realty,” said Dreams Come True Executive Director Sheri Criswell. “Our ability to deliver and fulfill the power of a dream is only possible through the generosity of our donors and community partners.”
