Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Florida Network Realty Lights Up Northeast Florida

Experience the magic as Northeast Florida is transformed into a winter wonderland of lights, candles and laughter.

Luminaria 1

Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Florida Network Realty is proud to present Luminaria 2017 in neighborhoods throughout Northeast Florida. The luminarias will take place on Sunday, Dec. 17, beginning at dusk. In the event of inclement weather, the luminarias will be moved to Sunday, Dec. 24.

A holiday tradition, luminarias are simple paper bags that are filled with sand and a votive candle. Beginning at dusk, the candles are lit for a spectacular display. Candles light the streets and bring neighbors together for holiday fun and cheer. Luminaria 2017 also supports those in need.

Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Florida Network Realty is offering a limited number of pre-assembled, ready-to-go luminaria kits containing all the necessary materials. Each kit includes six bags, six votive candles and sand.  Each luminaria kit is hand made by Pine Castle, a local charity that empowers adults with disabilities through opportunities to learn, work and connect.

Luminaria kits are $5 (check or cash only) and available for pickup at six Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Florida Network Realty office locations through Dec. 16, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., while supplies last. Each luminaria kit lights approximately 25 to 30 feet, and individuals are welcome to purchase as many kits as they need to light their home. Additionally, 100 percent of the proceeds from luminaria kit sales will be donated to local charities including Pine Castle, BEAM, St. Johns CARES and Pace Center for Girls, among others.

“You have to experience a luminaria to truly appreciate and understand how it makes you feel,” said Realtor Lee Elmore who launched the company’s inaugural Luminaria in Atlantic Beach. “It was so incredible to see the streets of Atlantic Beach lined with luminaria, magically transforming our city into a night of lights and a celebration of the holiday season unlike anything we have ever experienced. I am thrilled our event is expanding and more communities in Northeast Florida will enjoy a spectacular night of lights.”

Luminaria 3 Luminaria 2

Modeled after Riverside/Avondale’s beloved luminaria, Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Florida Network Realty’s inaugural event last year was a terrific success, raising $3,700 from luminaria kit sales while bringing friends and neighbors together to celebrate the magic of the holiday season. The funds were donated to local community charitable organizations and the company decided to expand the luminaria to additional branch office communities.

“Our company loves to support events that bring our communities together,” said Broker/Executive Vice President Christy Budnick. “Luminaria 2017 is about community spirit and bringing neighbors together to experience the light and celebrate for greater good during this magical time of year.”

Participants are encouraged to purchase official luminaria kits from Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Florida Network Realty offices. Proceeds from luminaria kit sales will benefit local non-profit programs and charitable causes. Payment is by check or cash only (please make check payable to Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Florida Network Realty.) Organizers recommend everyone interested purchase their luminaria kits soon as the company sold out of kits prior to last year’s event.

On the day of the luminaria, participants will light their candles at dusk. With the neighborhood aglow, the company encourages neighbors to organize evening celebrations, such as community block parties or progressive dinners, and stroll through the streets to enjoy the lights.

To ensure a safe and enjoyable evening for residents and visitors alike, organizers encourage walking, biking or the use of golf carts whenever possible. Those visiting are asked to be respectful of property owners and to operate vehicle transportation in a safe and responsible manner. The Luminaria is a fun event for all to enjoy.

“It’s enchanting to be in the midst of thousands of golden-hued luminarias that punctuate every street and walkway in your community,” said Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Florida Network Realty Founder, President and CEO Linda Sherrer. “We love that the holiday season provides unique opportunities to share holiday cheer and make a positive difference, and we hope everyone will enjoy our luminaria.”

Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Ranked Highest for Repeat Home Seller Satisfaction in J.D. Power’s 2017 Home Buyer/Seller Satisfaction Study

Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices, an HSF Affiliates LLC company which includes Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Florida Network Realty, recently announced that the Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices real estate brokerage network ranked “Highest Overall Satisfaction for Repeat Home Sellers Among National Full Service Real Estate Firms” in the J.D. Power 2017 Home Buyer/Seller Satisfaction StudySM.

“A home is one of the most important assets that most people will ever buy. Homes are also where memories are made and you want to work with someone you can trust.”

-Warren Buffett, Chairman and CEO, Berkshire Hathaway Inc.

The 10th annual study assessed customer satisfaction among the nation’s largest real estate brokerage companies and their agents. Overall satisfaction was measured across five factors of the real estate process: agent/salesperson, closing process, real estate company marketing, real estate company office, and package of additional services. The study was based on responses from 4,170 consumers.

Among repeat home sellers, Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices scored 858 on a 1,000-point scale, performing particularly well in the categories of agent/sales person, closing process and real estate company marketing.

“Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices stands for top-quality real estate representation in markets across America,” said Gino Blefari, CEO and president of the network. “We’re proud to accept this award, as it spotlights the exemplary service network agents and their brokerages provide every day.”

The ranking, “highest for repeat home seller satisfaction,” speaks volumes in the real estate community. Repeat home sellers have been through the real estate process and have a clear understanding of the work and expertise involved in a successful home sale. This type of satisfaction means Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices network agents excel when it comes to communicating with clients and listing and marketing clients’ homes.

“When we started almost 30 years ago, we had one clear goal in mind – to raise the level of professionalism in real estate in Northeast Florida,” said Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Florida Network Realty Founder, President and CEO Linda Sherrer. “We knew we would achieve our goal as long as two key elements were present –a well-known brand that commanded respect and trust, and a select team of Realtors and employees with a shared vision and passion for serving client needs.”

J.D. Power

J.D. Power’s study yielded several key findings about the real estate process. Among them:

Relationship. An agent’s relationship with a buyer is the most important factor in determining customer satisfaction.

Marketing. For sellers, marketing of the home is most important, as it is the most visible way for the seller to gauge the agent’s support.

Information. Satisfaction is strongly influenced by the amount of time agents invest in keeping customers informed versus when they are not kept informed.

Reputation. Word-of-mouth remains important: First-time home buyers and sellers report good reputation and recommendations from friends, family and colleagues as the two main reasons for selecting a real estate company.

“Our name stands for strength, integrity and trust, and we offer the best talent, experience, assets and relationships to our clients – sellers and buyers alike,” said Broker/Executive Vice President Christy Budnick. “Our company commands the highest average sales price for our clients and we develop and execute finely-tuned marketing plans designed to reach and attracted the most qualified buyers. Our agents offer Single Agency Representation – the highest level of service and representation afforded by Florida law. Our Realtors bring our strong reputation and access to the best resources to help their clients in all phases of their real estate transaction.”

Founded in 1988, Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Florida Network Realty has a team of more than 400 real estate professionals in nine offices throughout Northeast Florida. The company operates a corporate relocation division, a new home and condominium sales division, Florida Network Property Management, Gibraltar Title Services, LLC and is in a mortgage relationship with EverBank.

Why Now May Be the Best Time to Sell Your Home

Low Inventory + Low Interest Rates = Strong Demand

Patience may pay off for those who have postponed putting their homes up for sale.

St. Augustine Homes for Sale

Homebuyer activity is up and inventory is low. While prices are on the rise, interest rates remain low. If you’re thinking about putting your home on the market, now is a great time to sell.

“There is strong buyer interest but exceptionally low inventory in the current market, which is terrific news for those who are selling their homes,” said Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Florida Network Realty Founder, President and CEO Linda Sherrer. “Competition among buyers is fierce for available listings and it’s driving prices up.”

Northeast Florida Homes for Sale

The latest data from the Northeast Florida Association of Realtors shows there is not enough inventory on the market to fill the needs of buyers. The August 2017 real estate market report showed:

  • Inventory levels plunged 19.9 percent more than inventory levels in August 2016
  • The Months Supply of Inventory dropped 22.2 percent to 3.5 months
  • Homes sold in an average of 63 days, 12.5 percent faster than 72 days a year ago
  • Competitive bidding, as a result of the low inventory, resulted in 11.2 percent of properties being sold for more than their original listing price

“There are fewer homes for sale in every price point, but we are not seeing a shortage of serious buyers,” said Broker/Executive Vice President Christy Budnick. “The current market has created a sense of urgency among buyers and we are seeing bidding wars, many properties going to contract very quickly and some for well over the asking price. All in all, it is a good time for people to put their homes up for sale.”

The decision on when to sell your home isn’t solely based on market conditions. Before putting a ‘For Sale’ sign in your front yard, it is important to take into account your personal situation and wise to partner with a professional you trust to help you achieve your goals.

While it may be tempting to avoid commissions by considering for-sale-by-owner, it’s not in the best interest of the seller to do so for numerous reasons, including netting the highest profit. A real estate agent’s contributions are invaluable including marketing, arranging showings, negotiating offers with buyers and their agents and working through the numerous issues and requirements to ensure a smooth closing.

The company’s Realtors have access to all-encompassing marketing plans, including global exposure and social media.
