Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Florida Network Realty is pleased to welcome Roy E. Bode to the St. Augustine office with locations in St. Augustine Beach and Murabella at World Golf Village.
A career journalist and communications and marketing executive, Roy joins Florida Network Realty with an incredibly strong background in media, management and in business. Beginning his career as a high school sophomore at a twice-weekly paper in West Texas, Roy soon became a reporter at the Dallas Times Herald – after asking to borrow a typewriter there to transcribe his notes from an interview with the man who hired Lee Harvey Oswald at the Texas School Book Depository. Twenty-five years later, as the Editor in Chief of the Dallas Times Herald, Roy’s conference room included the place he sat down as a high schooler at a borrowed typewriter.
Throughout his career, Roy has worked at multiple highly respected newspapers and media institutions – including as the Editor and Vice President of The North Jersey Herald-News, the Vice President for Public Affairs and Marketing at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas, and most recently as the Owner and President of Bar 30 Media, LLC, a group of community newspapers, magazines and websites. In 2015, Roy moved to Florida’s First Coast after accepting an unexpected offer for his publications and is eager to keep refreshing his career with new challenges. As a Realtor, Roy is eager to use his networking, business, media and communication skills to help his clients find a house they can call home.
Helping others is a passion for Roy, and has driven him throughout his career, first in media and now as a Realtor. Roy has served on the Boards and Executive Committees of multiple Nonprofits and Charities that are near and dear to his heart, including as a Director & Fellow of the Dallas Historical Society, the Executive Committee for the Walt Garrison Rodeo for multiple sclerosis research, and a Founding Member and Director of the United States Marshal’s Posse in Dallas.
Roy and his wife, Ellen, also are supporters of various rescue dog organizations for Golden Retrievers and German Shepherds and mixed breeds. They also raised quarter-horses and cattle on their Texas ranch.
“I’m excited to welcome Roy to the St. Augustine Office! Roy has had a full career and life and is ready for his next adventure as a Realtor. He has a driven personality and a passion for helping others that is evident from the first time you meet him, and I am confident that he will be successful in his new career as a Realtor,” shares Tracy Glochau, Broker/Manager of the St. Augustine and Murabella at World Golf Village offices.
