Finding the right place to settle down after you retire can be a tough decision. One thing that you know for sure is that Florida is a great place to call home, and Jacksonville has a very happy retirement community. You worked hard all your life, so we did the research for you and put together a list of six great Jacksonville suburbs for retirement.

Atlantic Beach boasts many amenities for seniors, including the popular Wednesday Market, where you’ll find anything and everything you’re looking for. It is one of the most pedestrian-friendly suburbs in the city, which in turn promotes a healthy lifestyle. There is always something going on in the community, with events like Shakespeare in the Park.

5. Orange Park

Orange Park is a retirement hotspot, with twenty percent of the residents being over the age of sixty-five. People flock towards Orange Park, and it’s no doubt due to the close-knit community. With so much local entertainment and local produce, there is always something to do and something to eat in this vibrant suburb.

4. Nassau Village / Ratliff

The Nassau Village / Ratliff area of Jacksonville has the lowest cost of living, making it a great place to settle down once you’re done working. It’s the perfect fit for you if you enjoy the outdoors, with activities like horseback riding, hiking, bike riding, and hunting being some of the most prevalent things to do.

Callahan has all of the small town charm you would want in a suburb, and you’re only a half hour outside of Jacksonville’s city center. The cost of living is low, and the friendly and lively community comes together at places like the Callahan Farmer’s Market or the Nassau County Library Branch.
